New modes of active perception of annotated film
(in collaboration with Yannick Prié )

Our approach is both theoretical and technological. Theoretically, it concerns our rapport with the takeover, in the broad sense of the term, of cinematic works through reliance on perceptional potential afforded by the digital application.

Technologically, it further concerns the assigning to oneself of the means of describing and implementing different tools of active perception of the body of cine-film works. The notion of audiovisual annotation as primary materialisation of the latter is paramount in this respect, and serves as a foundation to an adequate assessment schema for active perception.

We shall go over some examples of active film reading tools for the sake of criticism and teaching, as well as some art biased output-systems. In conclusion, various ongoing groundwork issues will be covered to illustrate the full potential of our current inquiry.
