Alain Liedts
He runs the van Dijk office, a consultancy company specialising in the implementation of IT and resource systems.
In 1999 he was at the inception the Liedts-Meesen foundation which financed the “Cirk Zebrastraat“ renovation redevelopment, the first “workers condominium” in Europe, rooted in the city of Ghent, Belgium. Through this project he has attempted to show the feasibility of combining three normally septate activities within a single public space: accommodation, culture and economy.
Since 2006 the foundation gives support to the UPDATE biennial hosting works influenced by which digital issues have a prominent place. In the 2008 version the “Nouveaux Médias/Fondation Liedts-Meesen“ prize was awarded by a jury to a piece of work chosen at the outcome of an international competition.
