Douglas Edric Stanley

American born artist, he lectures on digital related arts at the École Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en-Provence where he contributes to fields such as aesthetic quality in information technology, robotics, and programming. There he runs the Hypermedia workshop, a studio where he processes the algorithms and the code in terms of fine art subject matter.

Since 1997 he has several organised workshops about programming in the context of art for various institutions, universites and art schools.
He has taken part in numerous exhibitions related to I.T. art, including the biennial ICC in Tokyo, Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria), ZeroOne/ISEA2006 (San Jose, U.S.A.): EnterMultimediale, Prague; Villette Numérique, Paris; Festival Némo, Paris; Écoute, Pompidou Centre, Paris. In 2000 he received an honorable mention at the Prix Ars Electronica for his Asymptote installation in which the computers could respond by applying specific forces.

He is currently involved in research work on the transmutation of art at the hands of world algorithmisation at the Laboratory Aesthetic for new media in Paris 8.
